After over-dosing on chili and spinach dip at the annual Superbowl Party, I’m ready for some ice fishing! Fox Chain: All ice is safe except for bridge and heavy current areas. Bluegill, crappie, and white bass can be found on the north end of the Chain, along with some bonus walleyes. Lake Michigan: Try Kenosha, Racine, and Milwaukee harbors for big brown trout. Chicago harbors and Navy Pier are still bringing in perch. Geneva and Delavan are thick and producing pan fish.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb 16th at 7 PM. Our speaker will be Steve New of Anglers International. He will talk about new fishing tackle products and techniques for 2010.

Beat the winter doldrums and visit the Fishing Flea Market at Rolling Meadows High School on March 13th from 8am to 1 pm. Arlington Anglers will have a club table for meeting prospective new members. This event is great for picking up some great gear at decent prices.

We are also planning a joint outing/tournament on April 10th with the Fox Valley Area Anglers and the Oswegoland Fishin Fools clubs. Launch time will be 7:30 am at Spring Valley on the Illinois River. Prizes will be awarded.

Take a peek at www.arlingtonanglers.com as it changes. The Club Web Master, Pat Harrison, has notified us that our new web site is taking on some major improvements. Some of the pages are under construction, but look at Club Forums.

DUES ARE DUE! It’s time for 2010 dues so bring your $30 check to the next meeting. See Gary Elliott (our treasurer) and make sure you get your membership card. Also make sure we have your current email address as stamps are even more expensive now! Send or give fishing photos (digital or printed) to Bob Diebold for inclusion in the Outdoor Notebook.

Door fees are $2 for members and $5 for guests. See you at Dick’s Sporting Goods at Martindale & Higgins, just off of Rt. 53, south of Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg. Fishing reports, 50/50 raffle & door prizes too! Entire families are welcome. It’s that time of year, so try inviting a guest or bringing a fishing buddy. We always need new members.
